Privacy & Terms
MomSakhiMomSakhi is a small, kind corner of the internet for moms. Here is, in plain words, who can join, what we keep, who sees what, and the few rules that keep it safe.
Who can join
MomSakhi is for women aged 18 and over who are moms or moms-to-be. One account per person, please.
During the open beta, any mom can join MomSakhi by signing in with Google — no invite code needed.
Signing in with Google only tells us you have a Google account — we don’t check identity or gender. MomSakhi is a moderated community, so please keep it kind and report anything that feels off.
What we store
When you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address and profile photo from Google. We keep your name and email on your private profile so we know the account is yours.
We also store what you add: your nickname, the stages and languages you pick, your city if you add it, your posts and replies (and whether each one is anonymous), the reactions you give, any posts you report, and feedback notes you send (with the page you sent them from and your browser type).
When you join with an invite code, we also note which code you used and when you joined, so moderators can manage beta invites.
All of this lives in Google Firebase (Firebase Authentication and Cloud Firestore). A few settings are also kept in your browser on this device.
What other moms see
Other moms see your nickname (or “Anonymous mom”), your posts, your replies and reaction counts. They never see your email address, and your profile is readable only by you.
Anonymous posts
When you post or reply anonymously, other moms see “Anonymous mom” instead of your name, and the post itself carries no account ID that links it to you.
We keep a separate, private record of which account wrote it. Only MomSakhi moderators can see it — so they can act if a post is reported — and it lets you delete your own post. Anything you write in a post is visible to other moms, so leave out details that could identify you.
Not medical advice
Moms supporting moms — MomSakhi is not a replacement for your doctor, midwife or therapist. Advice here comes from other moms’ experience, not from professionals.
In an emergency, call your local emergency number now (112 in India, 911 in the US and Canada, 999 in the UK). For support lines, see the Safety centre & crisis lines.
Community rules
- Be kind. No shaming, bullying or judging another mom’s choices.
- No ads, selling or spam.
- No medical misinformation. Share your experience, and encourage moms to check with their doctor.
- Respect privacy: don’t share another person’s photos or personal details.
Moderators may remove posts or replies that break these rules, and may remove accounts that keep breaking them.
Deleting your account and data
Sign in, tap “Send feedback” and write “Delete my account”. Because you are signed in, we know which account it is. We will delete your account and the data linked to it (profile, posts, replies, reactions and feedback) within 30 days.
No ads, no selling
We don’t show ads and we never sell your data.
Changes to these terms
If we change these terms, we will update this page and the date below. Using MomSakhi after a change means you accept the updated terms.
